Subscribing to a share of
vegetables from the farm
To order a North Creek Community Farm vegetable share,
please download a subscription form and mail it together with payment
to Kate Stout at the farm, with a deposit of $100. Final payment is
due by August 1, 2008.
Complete instructions are found
here.
In addition to regular vegetables shares, the farm is also
pleased to offer subscriptions to coffee shares, cheese shares, and
soap shares at an additional cost. These shares will be delivered together
with your vegetable share if you elect to subscribe to them. Details are
provided below.
New this year: Farmer to Farmer Coffee Shares
This is a joint coffee project between Mayan farmers from Lake Atitlan,
Guatemala, and Farmer to Farmer, Glenwood City, Wisconsin. Fair market means the
growers receive a much better wage than would otherwise be possible on the regular market.
Currently our growers receive almost three times the regular market price. Shade grown
means forests are preserved and growers are encouraged to plant more trees.
It also means a better coffee bean and a more delicious cup for you!
A coffee share is one pound of whole beans of Farmer to Farmer Coffee
delivered every second week, eight deliveries over the course of a season. It is
available in dark or medium roast, or medium roast decaf, for $72 a share.
To subscribe, add $72 to your subscription check made out to
North Creek Community Farm, and indicate on the subscription form which type of
roast you want. Want two shares? Add $144 to your check and indicate two coffee
shares on the subscription form, and the type of roast for each. Heck, sign up
for three shares if you want. That is how much coffee your webmaster buys
every two weeks.
Returning this year: Next Generation
Cheese Shares
My neighbors, Rolfe and Roger Klefstad, are producing organic cheese with
their Next Generation Cheese Company.
This incredibly creamy flavorful cheese is available direct to members at a discounted price.
Much of the cheese is made with raw milk for higher digestibility and bioactivity.
New this year are snack sticks that are great for lunches and after school treats.
One cheese share is two half-pound packages delivered every second week, eight deliveries
over the course of a season. If this is not enough cheese for your family, just sign up for
two shares! The varieties you will receive include Caribbean, garlic parsley, parsley, cilantro,
plain Colby, mild cheddar, tomato basil, Firecracker Cheddar.
To subscribe, add $72 to your subscription check made out to
North Creek Community Farm. Want two shares? Add $144 to your check and
indicate two cheese shares on the subscription form.

2008 Festival Dates
Note: All festival dates fall on Saturday
May 24 - Planting Day - See the garden in its infancy and
help plant the baby tomatoes and peppers. A potluck lunch will be held
in the early afternoon.
July 12 - Garlic Harvest and Wine Making Part I -
One of our most popular festivals! Help harvest the garlic: dig it, clean it
and lay it out to dry. Then relax on the porch with roasted garlic, salad,
brie, French bread and wine. Ahh heaven!
NEW THIS YEAR! Learn the ancient art of wine making. We will harvest the
cherries from the farm and harvest carrots to make two wines that will be
sampled at next year's festival. Other wines you would like to try making? Let me know.
August 16-17 - Corn Feed and Camp Out -
Come just for the day or overnight. Enjoy a big supper with sweet corn and
other farm goodies. Then if you like, put up your tent and spend the night.
Enjoy a farm breakfast and help harvest for the next week's delivery.
September 27 - Harvest Festival - A wonderful day spent harvesting,
gleaning and gathering pumpkins. Pick up extras from the season to enjoy later.
Don't miss this year's culminating event.
